The Imperial Palace

One of the major tourist spots in central Tokyo is of course the Palace AKA the house where the Emperor and his family live. Many tourists leave after they take pictures of the bridge and the front gate as you are not allowed to go inside without a pre-engaged tour reservation.  However, many people don’t realize that there is a East Garden area behind where you can visit free of charge and enjoy different museums, historical buildings such as the security house and a former castle tower and Japanese gardens with beautiful ponds.  There is a souvenir shop as well. No pets allowed.
