Ghibli Museum

When my kids were small they liked watching the movie, Totoro.  Totoro is one of the products of the Ghibli Studio.  The Ghibli Museum in Mitaka is so well known internationally but I had never visited it before.  So I finally decided to go there.  You will need to purchase the tickets at Lawson in advance.  They start selling tickets one month in advance so I highly recommend you secure your entry a month ahead because they get sold out very quickly.

The museum is situated in Inokashira Park. So after the visit we also visited the zoo and the park as well as the tea house there.  From Kichijyoji JR Station, it is a good 20 minutes walk through the park.  It was like hiking.  On the way, you will enjoy seeing a pond, shrine, street musicians and beautiful gardens.

You are NOT allowed to take pictures inside of the museum.  There is no routes so you can freely walk around, climb stairs, discover hidden doors and find your own way to go upstairs, enjoy a view from the balconies and shop at a souvenir shop.  I wanted to ride a cat taxi but I did not.  Small kids were playing and I was too old I thought.

Outside of the museum there is a cafe to have ice cream and snacks of course.
