Snow Monkey Trip

We went to see the snow monkeys for our Christmas vacation.  We took a bullet train from Tokyo station to Nagano station and then transferred onto the Snow Monkey Express train to Yudennaka.  When we arrived, our hotel driver was waiting for us at the exit to drive us to the hotel which was about a 10 minute drive. They had snow boots for us to wear in the snow, so we changed our shoes while they took our luggage.  We first had lunch at the only cafe near the monkey park called Enza cafe. They had an English speaking cashier and the menus were in English.  I suspect because there were many foreign visitors. The entrance to the monkey park is 500 yen. From the gate to the park, it is a 25 minute walk up the mountain to reach the monkey park. When we first saw the first monkey in the snow we were very excited.  There were many monkeys freely playing in the snow and soaking in the hot spring bath.  It was cold and long hike but it was worth it to see the monkeys in the snow.
